Olivewood is one of my preferred woods as it produces a beautiful grain pattern and the colors are exceptional. It also smells very good while I am working the wood.

This olivewood plate is 9 1/2" across and about an inch high. It was turned from a larger piece of olivewood from which I will be able to get one more plate. However, this one will be the larger of the two and the grain pattern in this one is more interesting. There is one special feature of this piece, which is the small bark intrusion which appears as a darker oval shape. The center of the bark intrusion held a small void which I filled with brass shavings to make a level surface.
